Best football boots for a winger?

I am buying football boots for my bro. Money is no option as i am getting them customised and will probably get them on nikeiD or else prodirectsoccer.com


However, i do need a bit of help please, i dont know much about boots so need help in choosing them. My bro is a winger and is quite fast and he dribbles and does tricks a lot. The last boots he had were nike R10 Legends.However, is it true that certain boots like the Nike mercurials, (that ronaldo wears) make you run faster or is this just marketing.? Any help?

Reply:boots are boots, but you should worry more about fit and function than look or perception. i have a pair of mercurial vapors, a pair of predator absolutes, and a pair of puma v1.06. my favorite pair are the predators (which you can customize at soccer.com, just make sure you get the correct size - i have last years version and havent tried the newer style yet) because they are the most comfortable for my feet. my least favorite pair are the vapors. 1.) ive had the vapors for 8 months and still get blisters whenever i wear them (i still tape my toes and feet whenever i wear them) 2.) it HURTS when my feet get stepped on, when the same stomp wouldnt hurt in my predators, 3.) i dont have the most amazing touch, and the vapors are like playing barefooted so they arent as forgiving in that department (also, i play in an attacking fullback, winger role). really, i dont know of anyone who has found the vapors comfortable.





the vapors are lighter and the way the arch feels makes you put your weight on the balls of your feet (similar to the nike free running shoes), but they are not significantly lighter than the preds (only 4 oz). true, they are worn more often by attacking players that rely on speed and quickness than on defenders, but i dont recommend them at all. the lightweight pumas are much nicer. but if he must have nikes, my fave (most comfortable) are the r10's. otherwise, the nike air legend's are also nice and are lightweight.


if $ is not an object, get the premium version (kangaroo leather if available in that style), but make sure he takes care of them.

Reply:Get the nike vapors, or the 10Rs, the personal ronaldinho ones. They are both good boots. If you decide to get the Vapors, don't get nike Id, cause those are onyl semi real, known as tallarias. I'd get the vapors. I had them this season, no regrets. Awesome shoes.
Reply:I am a winger too. I have the Umbro Ultra Sx. These are the best boots I have owned the touch is simply amazing and very lightweight.
Reply:don't get any boots that are "used" by players like ronaldinho. they are just suck. the ones he actually plays with are way better and diffferent material. i say go with any puma model that is lowcut. Im 13 and i play in provincials, so i should know. The lowcut makes tricks like rainbows easier. if your looking for a boot that is good with the long ranged shot.... id say that you should figure out which boots Andrea Pirlo is using right now. If you can find out that model then you cann have some crazy striking boots... IM gettting too CARRIED AWAY now... i can ramble on forever.... 1 last thing to say... t90s arent good for speed. get the supremeces if your looking for speed.
