Winter Boots.... Columbia vs. Sorel?

My Columbia boots just blew out the seams after 6 years of use and I am looking at getting a new pair of boots to replace them. I%26#039;ve heard good things about Sorel boots but I%26#039;m not sure If I want to change brands after my good luck with the Columbia brand. Things that are important to me are warmth, their ability to keep my feet dry and they have to be comfortable. I%26#039;m not as active in the winter sports so they need to be able to handle normal wear and tear. The three boots I am looking at are the Columbia Bugabootoo, The Columbia Bugalution WP %26amp; the Sorel Timberwolf. Let me know if there are other Brands or styles that are comparable in price (around $100) that you would recommend as well. Thanks!

Winter Boots.... Columbia vs. Sorel?
I have the Bugabootoos. Well, you sure won%26#039;t be climbing the Bugaboos with these things, but they are good winter hikers.. I think they%26#039;re supposed to be rated to -32C, but I would not reccomend them for that temperature (i tested them on a -28C day and got frozen toes within an hour or 2). I looked at the Sorels online, and they claim to be rated to minus 22C I think. So they%26#039;ll likely provide even less warmth.

Unless you%26#039;re hiking, why not get the classic Sorel winter boots, ya know, with the removable liners... Those things are warm!
Reply:i have been wearing sorels for over 25 years. they are very warm and very durable. don%26#039;t wear socks in them because they just get sucked off and end up in a ball in the toe. i do a lot of ice fishing and standing on a lake at -30 can be brutal if your feet get cold but my feet are just fine.
