Shining boots.?

Ok so I am in jrotc in high school. My teacher (Srg. Maj.), told us that if we get our boots as shiney as his we get these brands new uniforms, whitch I really want to get. Now I know the classic way to shine boots, and I am good at it, but, I can%26#039;t quite get my boots as shiney as my Srg. Maj.

So

I was wondering if anyone has any tricks to get your boots very very shiney, like glass.

P.s. I have and use Kiwi polish. That is the only brand I have.

Thank you for your answers and your time!

Shining boots.?
Use a diaper and cold water. Wet the diaper or T shirt if that is all you have and put very thin coats of polish onto the boot. You have to repeat this several times before it begins to really shine. I used to do this while watching TV it gave me something constructive to do while just sitting there. Once you begin to get a shine use just several coats of cold water to tighten up the wax. Then begin again with very thin coats until you can see your bright smile.
Reply:Try this melt you Kiwi Polish just before you start to polish your shoes be warned that if done correctly you may not see the lite blue flame be careful.

Place the application rag around the first two(2) Fingers of your hand and apply in small circular motions Spit on the shoe and into the polish and apply to the shoe.

Before you polish the shoe light a match and run it over the shoe to melt any excess wax on the shoe. look for any smoke or flame and rube those areas to remove excess wax. While it is still warm buff the shoes and repeat until the shoe is shiny. the Idea is to apply as thin a coat as is possible so take your time.

Apply Kiwi Silicone Shoe spray to seal the shoes and protect the shine. Note be sure that you are allowed to do this before you do it. This kept my shoes shiny for eight years so it should work for you.

Also get an extra set of shoes for daily wear and polish them the same way as always and get a pair for inspections. That%26#039;s what we did in the service.

Also remember that a good spit shine is a long time thing keep at it polish you shoes every day for a month or more and you will get a shine that only needs a little work to get it up to snuff.

Good Luck and keep up the good work.
Reply:I never used heat. I kept my wax in the fridge, I used cotton balls and distilled water with ice in it. You will need many coats. Watch the results as you go along. For some reason a cotton ball will some times get a speck of dirt or something in it that scratches. When that happens, get a new cotton ball ASAP.

Do use a sole dressing and don%26#039;t forget the front of the heel.

A quick buffing with a woman%26#039;s nylon hose will even things up some and it makes a good place to start your shining.

OH YEAH, BE PATIENT, Rome wasn%26#039;t built in a day and boots won%26#039;t be shinned it 10 minutes...
Reply:After you shine them with Kiwi (Lincoln wax works better) coat them (using a cotton ball) with floor wax.

I used to use Mop %26#039;n Glo, but I%26#039;m sure any will do.

Keep them in a protected place until the floor wax dries.

Some people are going to tell you that this method is %26#039;cheating%26#039; - but that%26#039;s only %26#039;cause your boots are gonna look waaay better than theirs.

Good luck!
Reply:Get some black leather shoe dye. Lincoln makes a great dye. They also make a great wax. Kiwi or Lincoln are the two waxes that I would recommend.

Start with a pair of boots that have been broken in and broken down. New boots have a shiney coating that must be removed before any attempt at spit-shining.

Dye your boots. Don%26#039;t worry about taking off the shine you already have, the dye will penetrate through the wax.

It will also leave a dull residue. Buff off the excess dye with a cloth. Do not start spit-shining until you can buff the boot and no longer pick up any left-over dye.

Start spit-shining. Use a clean, white cotton handkerchief that is not new and has been washed numerous times.

Wrap the cloth tightly around your pointing and middle fingers and palm the rest of the cloth to keep it tightly wrapped.

Tap the two cloth-wrapped fingers in water. Then, tap the two fingers in your wax picking up just a little bit.

Start spit-shining. Work in a small area. Keep the cloth moist as you work. Keep working the same small area until almost all of the wax is gone from the cloth. The cloth will look light gray instead of black.

Repeat. You will need to repeat this many, many times.

If you don%26#039;t start to see the results soon, you are using too much wax and/or you are not working in the wax enough before you add more.

Focus on the toe and heal areas. You will do most of your work here but you will also need to spit-shine the rest of the boot also.

Be patient and keep at it. This takes a long time.
